Core Values & House Rules

At the AGM (Annual General Meeting) on October 27th 2024, we discussed and agreed upon the following core values and house rules or code of conduct for our club.

Core Values

As club Pickleball The Hague we subscribe to the following core values:

  • Welcoming
We welcome players from all backgrounds to come and play with us. In a fun and safe environment we introduce people to the new sport of pickleball.
  • Respectful
We treat each other with respect no matter who you are and what your playing level is. We show respect both on the court and off the court.
  • Together
A club can only operate if its members take an active role in it. So everybody helps out in our club. Some people in small tasks, other in bigger ones.

House Rules / Code of Conduct

  • Respectful. We show respect towards all players also when you’re unhappy with your own game, with your partner’s game or when losing.
  • Equality. We accept players irrespective of their background, nationality, age, gender and level of play. We treat everyone in the same way.
  • Welcoming. We welcome new players at the club and make them feel welcome at the club.
  • Helpful & supportive. We explain (new) players how pickleball is played and how the club
runs. We check if they are open for the help we are offering. We help out at the club’s activities (from setting up and taking down the nets to helping at our tournament).
  • Fair play. We play in a fair way also when this is at our own disadvantage. We admit our own kitchen faults and call balls in when we’re not certain that it is out.
  • Safety. We refrain from dangerous behavior that might harm others (no throwing of paddles or hitting balls hard when upset, no running into other courts without looking if that is possible). We don’t use violence, verbal intimidation or sexual harassment.
  • Positive. We give other players compliments about their play and encourage/motivate them during playing. We speak in a positive way about others and about the club.
  • Co-operative. Players are invited to bring suggestions for improving how the clubs runs to the board. This should be done after play and not during a playing sessions.
